I purchased a Digi002 rack from Ebay. It arrived and it only had software for the Mac, and of course I run windows. Digidesign and the seller won't respond to my emails....anybody know how I can get a copy of LE 6.x?

I'm super pissed right now because it's the final thing I was waiting for to complete my setup....now I've got a bunch of mics and pres and nothing to do with them. I pray to God I don't have to buy an M-box or something just for the software....argggggg</rant>

Did you pick up the telephone and call them???

Emails are never guaranteed (or the Post Office would be running everything on the Net.)

This is one of those grey areas I was on about. Since you bought the hardware and the Mac software you could always download the PC software for free with edonkey.

Pro Tools LE costs like $75. Call them up, they'll give you a download link.

I paid twice. It cost $75 to upgrade from 5.1 to 6.1. Didn't think twice about it, as it was a worthy upgrade. Besides, you never really paid for it if you bought it on ebay. You can't really blame Digi for a bad auction transaction. It is entirely possible that the guy sold the Pro Tools program and serial number to someone else, trying to make more money on the deal. However, if your Pro Tools system came with any manuals, they should have the serial number inside of them, which would make it easy to download the software from Digi's site...

do you mean an upgrade to the full Pro Tools?

New upgrades, like the one to 6.4 is free downloadable for new Digi 002 owners.

The limitations of the LE software: no surround, and a maximum of 32 tracks.

I don't believe you can run anything higher than LE on the Digis

you can't. although you can upgrade the 002 Rack version to an HD unit for about $13,000 if you're wanting to...although that kind of defeats the purpose of buying the rack in the first place, and I doubt you'll want to spend that.

Contact Ebay. They are actually pretty agressive about going after bad sellers. You can file a complaint with Ebay, and they are usually pretty quick about things. A friend of mine bought an amp online and the preamp tubes were damaged when he got it. He contacted Ebay, they contacted the seller, and rather than go to arbitration or whatever Ebay pursues, the guy coughed up the repair money. I would assume that's what would happen in most low dollar situations.
