two questions:

1) i have finally found a source of rigid fiberglass in my area and intend to order it tomorrow. owens-corning 2" 705 frk, 288sqft(1 box) - $213.13.
is this a good price?

2) my space is really small, roughly 10ft x 11ft. my plans are to build open frames and attach the 705 to them. i plan to leave the front and back open and cover them with burlap and then attach them to the walls. i'll put them in 3 of the four corners and directly on the walls and ceiling. is this the best use of this material or should i go another route? i'm wide open for suggestions.

thanks,
tj

74¢ a square foot is about average. You did fine.

I just picked up some 2" Johns Manville 814 today for 75¢ a sq. ft. It specs out a tad better than OC 703 and is much easier to get here in Fort Worth.

I might have have gotten a little better deal if I'd bought quantity. I only got 96 sq. ft. though.

John- Sounds like a good place to start placing them. You may end up needing some 703 on the walls also. Putting them along the wall with a foot or two between each panel can knock down the reverb dramatically.

Those are excellent prices on insulation.

I paid about $1.25/sq ft for 2" /3 lb Knauf.

West coast is fucking expensive!

c7sus: i got a quote on the knauf also from a different store. the place i found the 705 didn't sell any other brands of rigid fiberglass.
the knauf was a lot more expensive, $2.23 per sqft for 2"/6lb. and they wouldn't budge from that price. i can't figure out why there is such a wide gap in the price of these two materials. i haven't pulled up the spec sheet on the knauf.....but it would have to be way better to justify paying 3 times the price of the 705.
