Any of you Cubase folks ex-pro toolers. why did you switch? i am already maxing channels and processing power with Pro Tools LE and my PC. Is cuebase more stable and flexible than PT? does it have better stock plug ins?

Will i get more bang for my buck with just about any other format?

as a producer all im doing is bumping wav's (tamborine, el guiitar, and various things to much better studios for import)... i figure a wav is a wav it doesnt matter what program i use (save chepo programs)?????

any thoughts?

I've never had cubase crash on me... I've had one Protools project be mysteriously corrupted and unopenable when PT LE crashed. People will go on about how stable PT is, but they're talking about TDM and HD setups, which doesnt tax the computer's resources much. I would say, protools LE is just as stable as cubse SX.

I've been using Cubase SX since version 2, and now am using SX 3. I find it to be a pretty stable app, but can't really rave about the included plug-ins. They are OK, but I tend to lean towards other plugs that I own. They did include a new verb with the SX 3.01 update, and people seem to like it I haven't used it yet).

If you visit the Cubase.net forums, you'll surely have a different picture painted about the app. There is a LOT of bitching over there, and a lot of threads that have the word "Bug" in them, which really aren't bugs. My feeling is the balance leans more towards user error with their systems, than show-stopping app bugs.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with the app and have been able to accomplish what I've needed to. Although now I've tried the new Sonar 4 and was pretty darn impressed with that.

I love Cubase, and will probably always use it. Using SX 2 right now with absolutely no problems. SX 1 definitely had some "bugs" or whatever you want to call them.

I've had Cubase crash on me, but only because of limitations with my computer and placing ridiculous real-time processing demands on Cubase. Try it out, see what you think. I just feel really comfortable in front of a Cubase screen. I know where to go and what to do. I think that's the biggest thing.

Yes I agree I get annoyed with allot of posters on Steinberg.net... they seem to enjoy nit picking and love to exaggerate .... also I think you get allot of

a, crack users
b, people running it with cheep soundcards with crappy Drivers..
c, people using it on old slower PCs

although Steinberg do not do them self's any favours when they put out upgrades when they are not ready... ok they get there after 1 or 2 updates but if you release something it should work from the box... but I agree, I have SX 3.1 and it is GREAT! ...and now Yamaha are at the wheel I think Cubase users can afford a grin :) IMO

Does it have to be one or the other? I use both, for different reasons and purposes...

So do I! some clients have Cubase at home, Some Pro Tools LE. I think that you have to be versatile in this industry.
