Alto gear

all I can say about Alto, is that it looks exactly like Berhinger. So they are copying Behringer which itself is copying others. I would avoid them, but that is just me.

They're known for DJ and sound re-inforcement equipment for clubs/discos/dancehalls. The headquarters are in China and they basically "borrow" design & construction commonly found in other gear mfrs.

Alto is an Italian based company that took Behringers lead if it was going to be ableto make any money. Mackie just did that samething recently. I saw a Tape Op review of some Alto gear that was better than what I expected. Also this gear look similat to Nady. But some of the Alto gear as PC modifyable parameters, which is unheard of in this price range. If the gear is better than Behringer, it would be worth investigating.

My bad!
I meant they manufacture thier products in China.

My wanna'-be-rapper younger bro's DJ uses their DJ mixer and power amps! Pretty decent sounding if you're into that sort of thing!

There's a glowing review of their cheapo multi effects unit (Bverb) in this month's Tapeop.

It's been a while - any new first-hand experience with this stuff?

I'm feeling the need for an outboard compressor, and my $$$ situation is ruling out the RNC for the present. The Alto BK 2.0 is looking pretty interesting for the price.

Anyone...?

Be seeing you,

piper.

I just picked up the following units and they all sound great, appear to be well built and for the price cannot be beaten.

CLE 2.0 Compressor/limiter/expander/gate
Betaverb multi effects processor
Altocomp Digital compressor module

I haven't tested them recording yet as I only loaded them up tonight.

Betaverb

I use it, sounds pretty good for running my vocals (live) through as a send/receive for four channels.

However, I could really use some technical help with setting levels on it and "combining" effect types...anyone....
