I've got a Pro Tools 8 LE home recording studio and am looking to expand my sample library to include instruments such as harpsichord, bagpipes, and some other instruments that don't come with the Structure sample player. It seems like East-West (SoundsOnline.com) has numerous very large libraries of sounds for sale and even offers package deals where you select 7 libraries for about $800 - $1000 (depending on which libraries you select). I listened to the samples on their website and got very excited about the quality of the sounds, the size of the libraries, and the value of getting so much for under a thousand bucks. But I had a few pre-sales questions for them and I wrote to their technical support department. That was three and a half days ago and I've heard nothing. I wrote again yesterday, and still nothing. I've called their tech support line and left messages twice now and, you guessed it, nothing. So I did a little research and it seems like there are tons of customer complaints about exactly this same issue; non-existent customer support. I wanted to post some links to bad reviews but this forum won't allow me to post external links until I'm made at least five posts.
At this point, I'm sadly giving up on SoundsOnline.com. Any company that can't be bothered to answer a few simple pre-sales questions in order to make a $1,000 sale can likely not be trusted to resolve any issues that may arise AFTER the sale.
Now we arrive at my question for all of you:
Does anyone out there know of any companies who make and sell sample libraries other than SoundsOnline.com (aka, East-West)? Or perhaps you know of a web forum where users have created their own samples and post them for free download?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm really looking forward to getting started on my recording projects, but at this point I won't do business with SoundsOnline.com unless I have no other choice.
Thanks for your help!
