I have a 2-3 year old VS-880 (V-expanded) and have been using ZIP disks as my storage devices. However, as I'm sure everyone here is aware, that can get expensive when you do a large volume of recording.

A friend of mine tried to get his VS-880 to back up onto an external hard drive with limited success, but neither one of us is the world's greatest techie.

Has anyone successfully used an external hard drive in the place of ZIP disks to store files for their VS-880? If so, gimme the lowdown.

For extra storage, try the ORB 2.2 Gig drive

See my post on the use of the ORB 2.2 external SCSI drive. It will solve all of you problems for about $300 bucks. $170 for the ORB (comes with one 2.2 Gig disk), 2 extra 2.2 Gig disks for another $60, and a few more bucks for a 25 pin SCSI 1 -> 50 pin SCSI 2 cable and a 50 pin Terminator. It works just like the internal drive, but has unlimited storage at 2.2 Gig disks for thirty bucks a pop.

Thanks!

I'll check that out. 250 MB vs. 2.2 Gig is no contest. I can always use the ZIP drive for a paperweight.
