Picked up album to mix, mu to the chagrin of the guys who recorded it. Of course as happens eveytime inthese situatios, theyll NOT OMF the *.pts files then throw in the kitchen sink

When someone cool does this, I can import the bwf's no problem, but here I got 453 track per song for a 3 piece band

I need thes omf'ed, non embedded so the udio files dont need to go anywhere, just straight pts to omf, can anyone help?

hahah

if you can't get it done before monday, i can do it for you if no one else is able to. I don't plan on going into work this weekend...so I won't be around my computer.

ahh cool! Its a possible thing though? Or am I missing some incompat detail or something?

yeah, it's possible.

only issue might be if they created the session file on a Mac and didn't enable the Mac/PC compatibility option. I work on a PC, so that's the only issue I can think of.

what version of PT are we talking about?

Like what version are you working with? and then did they tell you anything about where these files came from?

looks like pthd, since its 96k. Hundreds of tracks so Im assuming a pretty hardcore setup.

I do have a digi 002 and an mbox 2. Never had any intention of putting them anywhere near my main machine, but it may be the most convenient thing before I bug you guys.

Can someone give a crash course in "consolidate" ?

In PT? well it's pretty simple.

If you're using Windows, then the command is Shift-Alt+3 I beleive (same here, I won't be in front of PT till monday).

You can double click your intended track to select it entirely from beginging to end, then you can either consolidate with that short cut or select it from the menu.

Or you can batch consolidate and select two or more tracks to consolidate at the same time.

If you feel comfortable doing this, then you can *carefully* adjust and apply Strip Silence to your tracks to clean up silences way easier and more accurately than going through your tracks one by one. This is before you consolidate your tracks.

Also, if you have to rename any tracks, I would advise you do it before you consolidate.

Then if you want to clear up session space, you can clean up your unused tracks by going to the right regions menu (where all your session wave files, midi files are), right click and select unused regions. Then you can clear them from the list to keep things neat.

I apologize if I can't tell you exactly where to go, or if I misnamed a function, since I'm not in front of PT right now.
