Hey Alan,

I was just wonering if you could perhaps share some of your ideas on micing a drum set. Are you one of those guys who believes in the "less is more theory," or do you like to use a mic on every single piece of the kit?

What kinds of preamps do you like to use on drum mics?

I'm curious to know about what you think an ideal impedence load is for the various mics. Do you think it's important to use something that reacts quickly to transients, or do you think that a slower-reacting pre will impart greater warmth?

What do they call that measurement? I believe they call it "slope" time of a pre or something like that?

How much room sound do you prefer? Or do you like them to sound dry?

How much gating? Do you eq a lot or just a bit here and there?
