Last time I put up the mix in stages, but some people got confused. So here's the first full mix of this one. Trying out some small new tricks, so I'm curious what you think.

Hey, thanks - I take 'weird and disturbing' as praise. I've been listening to this one too much in the last two days. You ever upload something and immediately hear something you did wrong? I think the guitar sound is too dull.

I think it sounds amazing. I really like this. Weird and disturbing in a GREAT way. I hear everything nice and clear. Are you playing a kazoo??????

This is great!

I though it was fine. It didn't stand out to me as bad. Since there's not much else going on, a dark-ish guitar sound works. What does it have to cut through? Nothing. Let it be thick and full.

Hey thanks, Rami. No kazoo. Lip trumpet with various distortion plugins and a delayed clone.

I like this a lot, this is some fine weird work. I wouldn't over-think this too much, I think the mix is either perfect or close to it. I'd edit out the breaths on the "lip trumpet" though.

Yeah, I'm with everyone else. Sufficiently weird and wonderful.

Top job, well done! :thumbs up:

Actually ... the tone on the git lends a vintage vibe to it, P.

I like the ear candy you stuck on the chorus parts ... w/ the doubling. Nice and subtle.

You're done. This can't be improved on by mixing it further.

This is weird and quirky in a "Lime in the Coconut" kind of way.

I think I'm inspired to try and write something more stripped down and weirder than what I usually do. Problem is, I don't think I can force something like that. Hopefully, something will just come to me as I'm falling asleep, as usual.

I'm really digging this.

Great....the breathing adds authenticity in my opinion. Great recording, great tune, tasty.

That is some creepy goodness! I have nothing to say other than it sounds great man! Well done!

Here, one more exclamation... !

:)

I like it. The breathing could be reduced a little but kept - authentic as well as adding extra notes.
I don't hear this as weird but then I'm an Arnold Schoenberg as well as a The Residents fan.
My ONLY concern is the ongoing lip trumpet use. If you pull together an album there'll be some sameness to it - but then again that's what they say about Angus' solos.

Really cool tune dobro. I like the processing on the backing vocals and the lip trumpet and the little delay here and there - it adds a bit more depth to your tune, especially as you usually play it so natural.

The only thing I picked up on was that the vocals sounded to me like they could do with a high pass filter on to roll off a tiny bit of the lows on some of the lower phrases. It's not that they've interfering with other elements of the mix, it's just that they sound to me like they would sound better for it. I hear it in my stuff too when I record stuff at the lower end of my range.

Personally I don't really think so. I think it's just an instrument, and if the songs are varied it won't matter if the same instrument makes multiple appearances.

dobro, I bring gift of Robert Wyatt song, though you might know this one already.

Hey, thanks for the thoughts, rayc. Yeah, I couldn't get rid of the sounds entirely without it sounding like a goofy gap in the sound, but I could reduce it.

Yeah, people describing it as weird and disturbing surprised me, cuz I wasn't aiming at that. But if that's what people hear, I'm not telling them they're wrong.

There aren't any collabs on the album, it's just me. I'm a bit challenged in the solo department. So I just took a page from my busking days and did a bunch of lip trumpet improvs. It's my version of Bobby Dylan rack harp. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Thanks for the listen.

Thanks, robgreen. Yeah, the tune was pretty samey all the way through so I was looking for ways to change up the sound periodically.

Yeah, I was wondering about that and decided to see if anybody else thought so too. You thought so too. I might raise the highpass or I might try a low shelf. Thanks for noticing that.

Hey, question - can you make out the words alright? I wrote 'em so I know 'em and I hear 'em is the problem. But can you make them out?
