I love this thing. I recently posted it on a flamenco forum and all the luthiers love it. Both the character and the sound.

Yeah, it’s definitely not part of the original guitar. It’s a tap plate, which really confuses me because this is more of a classical guitar than a flamenco one. One luthier told me I should remove it, but I don’t think I’m going to lol.

I could see pulling it off for the aesthetics or if you want the guitar to be more "correct", but I'd be super leery of damaging it too!
