allied reel to reel ??

I was given an Allied reel to reel 4 track stereo TR 1035... first ?, is what does the 4 track description mean, as it aint a 4 track,its a 2 track...did they mean quad stereo capabilities or what?

its circa 1969 and works fine cept for a few minor problems.

any one know anything bout these ole decks? right now its "studio art" unti li get time.

4 track actually means quarter track in that situation. A stereo quarter track tape, which is what this records, has 4 tracks, two in one direction and two in the other direction. So, what you have is a quarter track stereo machine. This is the most common format for 1/4" consumer recorders.
