Allen & Heath preamps

I have an Allen & Heath MixWizard 16:2DX. I am fairly pleased with the preamps on the board and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on some other preamps that would something different from what the board already has. Also, would something like a DMP3 or VTB-1 be a "pointl-less" buy when compared to the A&H preamps?? any ideas would be great.

Literally all types of music but if i had to narrow it down, I would say rock. As for mics, I have many Sennheiser's MD and E series, Studio Project's C1, Groove Tube AM11's, Oktava Mk-012, lots of SM57's and SM58's, SM81's, Audix d6 and some crappy no-name mics that I keep around for just in case moments. I know that preamps might possibly be the weakest link in all of my line so thats y i am asking whether or not my preamps match up with anything of any use.

Just me, but i would probably work on my mic cabinet a little more. then look to pres. save up for one really good mic, then another then another!! it never freakin ends!!You probably wouldn't notice much diference with those pre's

Thanks for the advice. Just curious, how much more important are mics than preamps? Is it more important to have an awesome mic collection or a great assortment of preamps. I always thought they were about the same with the right person running everything. Am I wrong on this?
