Alex Gerst nominated for "Producer of The Year"

Many of you may know my son, Alex, if you live in North Texas, or if you've been out to our studio.

This will make his fourth nomination in four years, and he won it for the last two years. If you have the latest r.a.p. set, you can hear his work with Pimpadelic (and that album is up for "RAP/RAPCORE ALBUM OF THE YEAR").

Anyway, if you liked Alex's tracks (or if you have nothing else to do), please take about four minutes out of your day and vote for him. Voting closes Monday night

As usual, I'm not nominated for anything (they don't have an "Old Fart of the Year" category), so the best I can hope for is "Producer of the Producer of the Year".

I need your help! I have been nominated for producer of the year! For the FM97.1 "Local Show" awards, and I need you to vote for me and the bands I have worked with!

Just go to: http://www.kegl.com/localawards.html

BE SURE you click "vote" after selecting your choice (before hitting "next", or your vote will not be counted). Just clicking "next" will go to the next category, without a vote being cast.

Here is a list of Alex's "picks", in case you don't know who to vote for....

Thanks, from Alex (and from his proud dad)

Harvey - congratulations to Alex (and you.)

unhh, we sure could use your help around here!

I've posted a few times when somebody had a technical question and didn't get any answers. I'll leave the opinion stuff to people on the board who seem to have strong dislikes and likes.

I wish Alex the best and I'm bumping this thread back to the top of the board so more people see it and go vote. ;)

If you have any links to where I could download . . . maybe listen to some short samples -- legally, of course -- of some of Alex's competition, as well as that of Alex's, I'd be happy to cast a vote for whomever I think has the strongest work.

I'm afraid I'm not really up on the Texas rap / rapcore scene these days. :D

chessrock, goto the link and vote and you will see the listen buttons. :)

Actually, none of the stuff Alex produced can really be considered "rap". Pimpadelic was/is a "Southern rock/rap group" technically, but their new album has about 3 pure country tracks, complete with pedal steel and backup singers.

Alex and Advent, for example, just finished a new version of Phil Collins' "In The Air Tonight" that a lot of people think is much better than the original.

And the "r.a.p. compilation" I refered to was the "rec.audio.pro" newsgroup compilation, which also included tracks from Mixerman and Fletcher and me. It's a five disc CD set, covering every kind of music from classical to blues to test tones.

That's one of my favorite songs... I'd love to hear their remake of it.

Just make sure they didn't use any mics manufactured by 797 Audio to specifications stipulated by some bloke in Torrance CA. Harvey

Actually, Alex used the Neumann TLM-103 for the vocals.

Hmmm. So who gets songwriting credit on the test tones, then? :D I'd be careful, or we might be looking at some copywrite infringement.

Arny Kruger gets the copyright on the test tones, while John Cage gets royalties on the quiet spaces between the tones. :)
