Alesis USB with sonar

Hey,
Im pretty new to the whole digital recording thing and i've got a few questions. I plan on getting an Alesis MultiMix 8USB mixer and use it with sonar 4 preducer edition.

First question: If i have more than 1 track going through the usb connection, will i be able to specify in sonar which track on the mixer i want to record. so for example if one track on the mixer is guitar and the other is bass, will i be able to have both going to the computer but only record the guitar track or record both but on seperate tracks.

Second question: Are the computer and the mixer completely synchronised? If i turn the volume up on the mixer will the volume bar go up on the computer and the other way around?

Third question: Can the computers sound card still be used. would i be able to put the headphones through my sound card instead of having the pre-recorded tracks back to the mixer and out to headphones through there?

Any help would be appreciated

I did some research about the alesis multimix boards and from what I understand, is with the usb version, all of the tracks are mixed down to a single track and then sent into the computer. This is fine if you just record one thing at a time or dont care to have all of your tracks in one. But not good for recording multiple instruments. Which is kind of weird because if you only plan on recording one track at a time, why would you buy an 8-track (or 12 or 16 for that matter) board?
 
USB is only capable of 4 track simultaneous recording to PC. So, when I use my Lexicon Omega, I have 2 different tracks, and each input is on a different side. So Mic inputs 1 and 2 are on the first track, mic one on te right, 2 on the left, and the same for 3 and 4, but on the second track. I believe the multimix will do pretty much the same thing. In cubase, I believe you can aslo specifiy the "in." So you can say like I want the in to be channels 1 and 2 and that would make the right= channel one and the left=channel 2, but both on track one. That's how I assume it works. If you can only record one track at a time, don't get it. Look for the mixer on musiciansfriend.com and should be able to find some reviews and probably a .pdf manual for it. Good luck.
 
if you read the review of the multimix at zzounds.com, a guy clearly states that the usb recording interface isnt what you are lead to believe.
