How decent are these boards?

I was looking at a Studiomaster Mixdown 16:8 (which is available again) and I know Track Rat had one and liked it, but I have heard these boards can be noisy.

How quiet are the Alesis 24s??

I am looking for something that will eventually be an ADAT setup.

For a 40 dollar difference ($170 for the Studio24 and $210 for the Mixdown 16:8) wich would be a better option......pre's/EQ/routing/durability/reliability/etc.?????
