I recently ordered a new PowerMac G4 from Sweetwater Sound, set up "ready-to-go" with Digidesign's Digi 001 hardware/software package and extra Glyph 40G hard drive. The computer will be used for recording only. My questions are, should I keep my Alesis ADAT Studio Pack with 24 track board, or will I even need it? If I sell the Studio Pack, what recording oriented stuff would you recommend spending the money on? Do I really need anything other than the Digi 001 package to make high quality CD's? All I have for mics are 2 Shure SM 57's and an Alesis AM-11 condenser mic.
Most of my recording will be of the "one man band" type. I have an Alesis SR-16 drum machine and Roland GR-30 guitar synth that I'll use mainly for organ and sax sounds. I play blues and jazz guitar, blues harp, bass, and sing. And as a jazz and blues guitarist I'll use effects rather sparingly. But I want the effects to be of high quality. Any advice or comments would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Tom

I can't imagine why you would need the adat, your computer setup will do more, faster, and better. I would sell it and buy some good mics and preamps.

As far as pre-amps and digidesign, i've been wondering about the M-box and those focusrites.

the pre's are supposed to be pretty decent in the Mbox. I admit I have not yet heard them.
