Just went through my manual for the SR 16. There are no ambience/reverb controls. But the sound chart that comes with the manual the sounds listed and identified as Dry - Reverb - or Stereo.
So, I guess you can't get rid of or adjust the amount of reverb put into the sounds/patches.
My Boss 770 drum machine has a bunch of ambience settings which offer different settings for any of the patches.
You can add more reverb with an outboard box; but, aside from panning l/r, to lessen the intensity of a patch, I don't think you can add/remove the reverb in the patches.
BTW: Laphroig is much better -- it's only made on the isle of Islay and filtered through the peat moss only from that area. A bit expensive in the states though.
This is a little off topic, but does anyone know why my footswitch (generic) requires TWO stomps to turn My new SR16 on and off? Press it twice and the thing starts, then it takes two stomps to stop it again.
If you have the extra pads to spare, or a multitracker with basic MIDI functions you can create some really excellent sounds by layering drums together. Try layering two or three of the more dry sounding snares or kicks together and see what happens. Good luck!
