i have a home studio my monitors r alesis but one of the speakers blew out so now i gotta buy new speakers can anyone tell me where can i buy better speakers then this one

mercenary.com has some ADAM monitors. They're better.

Mackie makes some powered speakers that are pretty good. Pick them up just about anywhere online or your local pro audio shop.

You never mentioned a price point so, I went with what I knew was better. Some low cost alternatives may be viable but, I've not heard them. Alesis monitors are not the best but, you can make decent mixes with them.

Yo Thuggee:

The KRKs, either passive or powered are decent for the price. Suggest you go for the 8" woofers--better overall sound than the 6.5" models.

Of course, if you can visit a vendor somewhere, you can listen to a few models.

I had a pair of Alesis monitors a while back--some group in Seattle bought them, SOUP'S ON I think was their name.

I then got Yorkvilles--good for the dollars involved. Newest pair are the KRK passives.

If I were you, I'd wait until AFTER the new year--lots of sales will be going on then.

Merry Christmas

Everybody I know who bought KRK has had the power amp in them go bad. They sound good as long as they keep working.

I've done quite a bit of research on this question recently, and I agree with the Yorkville recommend. Also look at Mackie, Event, Tannoy, and Dynaudio. These are my favorite picks, in that order. After new years I will most likely end up getting the Yorkies myself.
