Does anyone else have an Alesis QS8 keyboard that could help with editing mixes? and using it to hook up to a digital recorder?

Thanks,
KD

I've got a QS-8.1, and played a QS-8 at my church, but have not spent too much time editing. I found mix editing particularly frustrating.

What specifically do you want to know?

Well, that's my frustration also....editing mixes. I'm trying to get the left half of the keyboard to play a rythm (country or gospel beat) and the right half to be either straight piano or a piano mix. I was able to get it set up but for some reason it wouldn't save (store). Any suggestions?
Thanks,
KD

You have to save it to a "User" mix. I haven't had problems saving my mixes, just getting them to sound good.

If you already knew about the User location, then what steps did you follow on the save?

Um, lets see if I can explain what I attempted to do. I found a USER mix that I had no use for (#92) that already had some rythm on the left side. I went into mix edit and turned all but the 1'st channel off. Made sure channel one was set for left half of keyboard. Pressed store twice. Press mix edit again to get to the program section of channel 1. Worked with one sound at a time using the 4 sounds to get the mix I wanted...pressing store twice each time I made a change. I had to turn off any effects (delay, reverb, etc.) that were on the original mix (#92). Then went to channel two in the mix and did the same. I renamed it, pressing store twice. But when I changed from mix to program mode, then back to mix mode to check the mix, the only thing that saved was the name. I'm doing something wrong somewhere, just can't figure it out. This is my first attempt to change any mixes even though I bought it new several yrs ago. Is it my imagination, or does the manual seem to be written to a person that already knows how to edit a mix? Hope that gives you an idea of what I'm doing wrong....I think I'm close but am just missing something. Thanks for the reply's, let me know if you need more info...

Scary. That's how I would've done it too. My QS-8.1 is offsite, but I'll be visiting it Thursday. I'll play with it, see how it goes.
