Alesis Qs-6: Dead Key

I have a key that does not make a sound when hit. I believe it is the B3. I took the keyboard apart, and if I tap the little rubber buttom with my finger it works. I believe the button has has lost some of it's sensitivity though, because when the key comes down it does not work. Has anyone has this problem? Do you know how to fix it or if not, how much it would cost to have fixed? Thanks. -Perry

Never had that problem and I've had mine for years. Bought new when it first came out. May need to have it looked at or replace that pad? Wish I could be more help.

My Korg N364 had this problem. I removed the pad from the cicuitboard, and simply rubbed the contacts inside with my bare fingers and reinstalled (mine were simply pressed into the Circuitboard via rubber tabs molded into the rubber strip). I would recommend any type of abrasive or cleaning product as the contacts themselves inside are of a rubbery consistency (Hence the aftertouch), a simple rubbing with the fingers should be enough to rough up the contacts, and remove any dust. And while you have it apart a good dose of compressed air will help. If this doesn't work be sure to inspect the key itself for physical damage which may prevent it from properly striking the contact. Good Luck!!!

I had that problem with half the keyboard on my old Korg X5D after a band member...er...FORMER band member spilled a generous helping of budweiser all over the top two octaves.

I pulled off the rubber pad, soaked the pad and used a toothbrush to clean off the circuit board and it worked good as new. Saved some money, lost a band member. =)
