I'm looking for anybody that has used this piece of equipment. What can you tell me about it? Do you like it? Does it work well? Is it simple to use? I'm looking at an inexpensive solution to maintain audio level on the low side and compress audio on the top end. Am I headed in the right direction with this?

Thanks in advance. "T"

twdops, most experienced recordists recommend the FMR Audio RNC
(Really Nice Compressor). www.mercenary.com has them for sale.
The Alesis nanocompressor, which I own, is not supposed to be anywhere
near its class. They are so cheap now, however, if you can't afford the
RNC right now you could get the nano and plan on using it until you get the RNC. I also own the Presonus Blue Max that
RNC (I think the nano is good for live work). I also own a Presonus Blue
Max, which I suppose is kind of a bridesmaid to the RNC, that has presets
for novices like myself and it sounds good. The RNC would be more flexible
and more useful for most musicians in the long run.

Please disregard the redundant "I also own the Presonus..."!

i bought the nanocomp as a bass compressor for my live rig - it's ok for that, but i now use a trace elliot comp.

i'm no expert, but as a general workhorse, it's not bad. not the most transparent compressor it must be said, but still ok for my home studio uses. i find the joe meek stuff more punchy, but it's am 'effect' comp rathe than a 'comp' one.

i would check out the RNC if you can stretch to that - it's picking up some great reviews.

chessparov is right. Away with the nanocompressor, in with the RNC! The RNC gives you so much value for your money. It is compared to some $500 compressors, and it's only$180. Ask for Blue Bear Sound for more help because he can explain things much better.

I just bought a RNC and it is great!I also have the 3630 it sucks.I also have the NANO-verb it NANO-sucks.I have never used a NONO compressor but I don't think it could come close to the RNC or we would be hearing about it.

Monty Neese,

Simply put. For the amount of money the Nanocompressor costs, it does the job. Nobody can argue that the Nanocompressor is better, than no compressor. If money is no big deal go for something else.

I've had one for nearly a year. It's OK, but for the extra value, save your pennies and go for the RNC.... it's getting rave reviews in all the mags.
