Alesis Multimix firewire recording stuttering problem

Basically, i recently purchased an 'Alesis multimix 8 firewire' and it works fine except when recording it randomly pauses/stutters. I've altered the buffer size on the Alesis control panel which made no difference. Any ideas? Cheers.

it sounds like it could have something to do with the available memory on your computer. I had a similar problem and i fixed it by deleting a bunch of old files and removing unused programs. I am using a PC but i dont know if a mac would be similar or not. hope that helps.
