i am planning to buy a mixer that allows multichanel recording. ( i would like to record 4,5,6,7.. tracks at once).

i have been loking for theese two mixers :

- PHONIC PHHB12U

- ALESIS MULTIMIX 16 FIREWIRE

both mixers have firewire connection.

is it possible to ma make multitrack recordings?

I used a phonic Helix FW mixer before and I really liked its functionality. Not sure how different it is from the PHH12 model. There are some differences between the Alesis and the Phonic. I think the main difference is where the mixer taps the audio to stream to the computer. On the Phonic, it was directly after the insert plug, before the EQ, Aux and Fader. I believe the Alesis taps after the Fader. I prefer the Phonic method, pre-fader streaming. You want to capture your raw audio without altering it.

Read the documentation on both. If they appear the same in function and price, then either one will work for you.

thanks chilli :)

i am more on the side of phonic. i am buying it next week and then i wiil let you know how it works.

Cool. Mine is old enough that Phonic did not update the driver for Win7. I am considering buying a newer model.

gGood luck
