Hi-

These are about 3 yrs. old, so no longer under warranty. I turned them on today and within a few minutes I heard a little "pop" (pretty much the same sound they make when they turn on), and the power LED was out -- one monitor only. I wasn't playing anything through them at the time.

I tried a different outlet & a different power cord, but nada.

I'm wondering if anyone knows what it might be, what kind of place I should take it for repair (assuming returning it to Alesis would be expensive, but I don't know), and what kind of expense I might be looking at.

I found a link here that suggests it might be a capacitor.

I'm in Putnam County, NY, in case anyone can recommend someplace nearby. I also sent a note to Alesis TS.

Thanks-

-Susan

the blown cap in that guide is a common fault.
if that's what's wrong with yours, any electrical repair store should be able to fix it.

if you're anyway handy, or have a friend who is, it'd be very easy to open the speaker up and check for yourself if that cap is blown.

i have a friend who had this problem and fixed it himself, so if you or a friend can use an iron, it should be a fairly simple repair.

if not, just go with the repair shop!

good luck.
