Alesis HD24

I bought a used ADAT HD 24 and I am trying to record 22 tracks using 3 Pipe line (optical) Inputs. When I arm record the 22 tracks, I get only the first 8 and the rest are duplicates for the first 8 tracks. I failed to record more than 8 tracks. Any one can help?
 
The HD24 can be set to different input modes to accommodate mixers with 2-bus, 4-bus, 8-bus, 12-bus or 24-bus (or direct output) architecture. You recorder sounds like it's in 8-bus mode which repeats the first 8 inputs on the next two banks of 8 tracks. On page 22 of your manual it tells you how to change the input mode to 24-bus by pressing Input Select until the display reads "Select Audio Input Tracks" then pressing track select (arming button) 13.
