a friend is getting rid of his ADAT Edit card and wants to give it to me, but the Alesis site says it *only* works on NT/98. is this actually the case? no support for XP?

sounds too weird to be true. :)

thanks.

I think it is because some of the Dynamic Link Library (.dll) extensions are not supported in XP and hence will only work with certain platforms (i.e. Windows 98). As far as I am aware, there is no way around this.

I have an xp machine, but kept my old Windows 98 machine as my main recording machine. All my recording software is Windows 98. I have the Alesis PCR card and Alesis edit/connect software on this PC and it works perfectly. I also have all of my PC's networked so I can transfer the large .wav audio files to another machine to work on if needed. This set up works well for me personally.

Just a thought. Good luck.

the card will work (in the loosest sense) on 98/me, but not 2k/xp.

I learned that the hard way. Had to keep me and dual boot the machine. Stupid piece of junk still never worked right.

There are way better solutions out there that aren't much more expensive and actually work with XP.
