Probaly worst ever!
A Behringer Composer is a lot better, and the Behringer really suck too!!!!

The 3630 is one of the best compressors under $200.
It makes the RNC sound like a tin-can.

Go buy one (or two) today!

Now I dont know what to think. i would have taken you seriously if you didnt give me all those smily faces and shit. But honestly, any recommendation on a "magical box" for vocal recording?

I'd recomend a good larynx through a good mic and pre.

My smiley's were for bowisc's post.......

I was very serious in my comments....... the 3630 is basically a big piece of dog-crap........

The RNC is an amazing value - worth 5 times it's price, yet sells for under $200......

The old Behringer Composers were also reasonable because they were based on Drawmer's comp (but still not equal to the RNC), however I've heard bad comments on the latest crop (but I haven't used them myself, so take that with a grain of salt......)

3630 is AWESOME!

NO! NO! NO!

Come on Blue Bear, how could you say that the RNC is better than the Alesis 3630? You obviously don't know what you're talking about.

Everyone knows the Alesis is an all-time classic-sounding compressor with all the functions you need to make those tracks make some serious K.O.'s happen (punch).

I've heard of many gold records employing the 3630 on tracks as well.

Hi Science:

Sorry you were confused by some of us having a little fun. You see, when you hang here a bit longer, you will learn to use the search function. If you type in "Alesis 3630" you will get a whole pile of some of the most scathingly negative evaluations you are ever likely come across. As a matter of fact, even most of the mail order catolgs are careful not to print anything too enthusiastic in their little descriptive sales pitch. (The exception is Sweetwater - read their description if you want a good chuckle.)

The 3630 was a most unfortunate design for Alesis. It's only redeeming feature is that it has a lot of pretty lights. Interestingly enough, it may not have been Alesis's worst piece of engineering design. That "honor" might have to go to the X2 board. I think they only made about 500 of them before they came to their senses.

Unfortunately, I was one of the 500 "lucky" buyers! :(

Science,

Listen closely.
Don't pay attention to these wanna-be engineers. They are all deceived.

Tyler... only $50??!! I would have taken it for $100. Why so cheap? And why would you want to sell this baby?

My 3630 is for sale. Only 50 bucks! What a deal!
Send me a cheque and I'll happily dispose of it for you......... I have my "hazardous material" gloves right here, handy.......!

Hazardous material gloves aren't strong enough. The acidity of the compressor can sometimes leak through. You have to use the ultra-hazardous material gloves which were designed for behringer gear. I'll send you the comp in a vaccum sealed, radioactivity shielded container, and a 50 dollar check. Oops, cheque.

You have to becareful though. The mail people really freak out when they find these things in the mail.

Hey seriously, I have the Compose Pro and it works very well. It is VERY flexible, has a lot of features, sounds clean. Well worth more than the $100 it goes for.

Under $200, its my second choice... after the, uhm.... Alesis 3630.

;)

I recommend the composer pro also. I was just showing one review example.
