Hi I'm Biff.

New member
does anyone have a pair of these headphones? i was thinking about buying a pair of these for general use. i'm not sure if this is a good idea because i'd also be using them for use with vocals and i don't want my mix bleeding in the vocal mic. i'm not really sure what they mean by 'semi-open air'. i've heard of 'closed back' and 'open back' but not 'semi-open air'. any clues? thanks ahead of time.

Yo, Where's the BIFF?

Cans? Yea, verily man. If you're doing vocals and have a good mic, you need CLOSED cans to help prevent bleed.

I have ash cans, beer cans, Vulcans, trash cans, coffee cans, can-cans and self-sealing cans.

However, for recording, I suggest you audition a pair of Beyerdynamic PRO 770 cans. I have two sets of the the Beyer 250's but am planning to get a pair of the 770 cans.

I have Sony, AKG cans also and a pair of wireless cans that go 300 feet through walls and all -- so, when I'm watering my roses, I can listen to my stuff or CD's from friends.

But, when I'm tracking, I use the Beyer cans. Good luck and watch out for Toucans.

Green Hornet:D :D :p :p :p

hey, thanks for the replies. i'm gonna get some other kind of heaphones (closed back) to minimize bleed into the vocal mic, i'll look into some of those 'cans' you guys spoke of. maybe, the vulcans, ;). thanks a lot- :)

Not sure what you mean, the AKG's and Sony's are both closed.

The K240 sound fairly natural to me, more than the others I've tried. (haven't used the pro 770's, i'll have to check them out)
But they are not very tight and do bleed more that the sony 7506, which most of my co-conspirators like better for tracking. They are brighter, deeper and louder.
I still like the less hyped style of the AKG's otherwise, but I had an interesting thing happen. Well into work on this song, i happened to switch to the sonys, and for the first time noticed the bass guitar's intro off time with the drums, (Clip, slide, smile) for what it's worth.

I'd like to know more about wireless ones. The cables are always in danger or being stepped on and pulled out.
Any recomendations?
Thanks
Wayne
