Hi, i want to get new headphones for my studio, and i'm considering the AKG K 240 Studio. Is the fact that the headphones are Semi-open can cause sound "leakage"/bleed from the headphones to a condenser mic while tracking?

Thanks

Never used em, but a quick google says they bleed a lot.
Saw a good few user reviews saying they wouldn't track with them/

I use sennheiser hd280s and bleed is not an issue. They have great isolation IMO.
They're in the same price range too and they're really comfortable..

Thanks i'll check those out.

you should always have a set dedicated to TRACKING, and a set dedicated to MIXING (or rather, checking mixes)

Right now i don't have the budget for two sets, so i figured i'll get a closed back set only for tracking, and use only my monitors for mixing. Later on i'll get another set for checking mixes, maybe the akg k240.

My music is acoustic, so there isn't anything too loud about it, and i'm not intending on monitoring too loud while tracking.

For now i'm thinking Sony MDR7506 or AT ATH-M50 or Sennheiser HD280. But reading mixed opinions on the MDR7506. Its an industry standard, and some say its great, but others say its a bit harsh sounding. I like the compact design and it seems comfortable.

you might want to consider ear buds.

i've used a cheap set of sony Funtopias while tracking before, just to try them.....

worked perfectly.

zero bleed.

Yeah, A drummer I work with a lot uses his own earbuds. Cheap, sound pretty good, they are his and he is used to them, they act as noise canellation to a degree, so they don't need to be loud... oh yeah and spill is almost 0.
