I picked up an AKG D200E ( http://www.coutant.org/akgd200e/index.html ) on a 'bay-click-spasm, and it just got here. I'm in the office, so I can't test it, but it appears to be in great shape.

Anyone using one of these? If so, what for? Looks like it was intended for PA systems?

Lower cost derivative of the D202 (which was very high quality). Uses two transducers, one for LF, one for HF via a crossover. Generally small proximity effect, flat frequency response, and more like a condenser. The D202s were sometimes favoured for Classical and often used in broadcast in the UK.

I had a minute to try it out just with headphones the other day -- I couldn't notice any proximity effect, which was wild, and it had a cool matter-of-fact kind of sound through the head phones - like watching the news in 1972 - without being cheap or flimsy sounding at all.
