Wes ..... They are $50. HERE at over priced GC

Looks like an other cheap on stage vocal microphone.

Whadda ya mean overpriced? Look at the GC page again. That's $150 off list!!!! ;)

I know ..... one of the few items that aren't sky high.

Not since they were trying to unload their inventory of counterfeit Oktava microphones have prices been so low on anthing.

The D8000S is just a re-issue of the discontinued D60S intended for sale to retailers. Different paint job, same mic. It's an excellent talkback mic. If you're just looking for a dirt cheap dynamic, I prefer Behringer XM8500, about $20 new. However, the D8000 does have an silent on-off switch, which is a plus for a talkback mic.-Richie

lol!!! ............

Well, Omayslick, I'm serious. I usually have a talkback mic jacked into a pre, and then straight into the aux in on my headphone amp, so I don't use up a perfectly good channel for the talkback mic. If it doesn't have a switch, I have to kill that input at the pre for tracking, which is a pain after I have my talkback level set. It just makes sense if you don't use a mixer. If the mic doesn't have a silent switch, it makes an annoying pop in everybody's cans when you turn it on and off, or you have to leave it on, and everybody gets out-of-phase bleed in their cans. So- that's the only reason I know of to have a mic with an on-off switch in the studio, and noisy switches are right out. That's life without a control room. I have an ATR 40 I use for that, which is basically my dedicated talk back mic.-Richie

I understand Richie. I've got a radio shack dynamic with a quiet switch doing the job for me over here.
I just thought it was funny that the primary attribute of this AKG mic was a quiet on/off switch.

Hey-whaddya want for $29?-Richie

It came yesterday, I haven't plugged it in yet - but $19.99 shipped I figured I couldn't go wrong :)

I've used some of AKG's super/hypercardioid dynamics, and I get the impression that they're all pretty similar. They're decent tom mics with a little EQ. I wouldn't pick them for vocals.

Try D770 for cheap or D3800 tripower for not so cheap. Both are very good vocal mics in their respective price brackets.-Richie

This mic sucked - I already got rid of it. For whatever reason it would feedback like crazy. I have 2 other AKG mics that work fine but this one was super harsh and feedback prone. For a talkback mic it would be fine but worthless for recording IMO.
