AKG C418 vs. Sennhieser MD421

Okay, for toms, which would everyone here prefer? (I'm guessing you all are gonna say the 421s, right?) My situation right now is to either buy more C418s, which I have one of and like, or go all out and get the Sennhiesers, which I've never had the chance to use. Thanx for your input!

I found the 418 had a slightly artificial sound and I found the placement options too limiting, whereas the 421 can give you a huge tom sound. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate them just prefer the sound of the 421 or even SM57 for recording, live for reasons of convenience I might use them.

some will swear by their 421's for toms...
some simply use the sm57....
Ive even heard of AT 4050's used with great results.......

If it was me making the decision, Id get the 421's......

get the 421s, you can use then on alot more than just toms....kick, snare, bass guitar, elecrtic guitar, voice....just to name a few of the apps. mine have a 5 postion bass roll off switch, but i dont know if they come with them anymore...i find that to be really helpful.

Thanx guys, just ordered one along with a composer pro. Gonna give em a try when the studios back together!
