hey everyone!

i want to buy some microphones for around €250-350 and the only ones i know of are the AKG C3000.

i want to use them to record a grand piano and would like to have cd quality...

what are your experiences with them? are they worth the money? or are others in this price range better? if so which ones?

all of your suggestions will be very much appreciated!

thx a lot

I didn't like the one I heard through a Mackie board a few years back. I'm sure you can find better mics for less money.

hmmm  not so positive...besides the 2000 which ones are recommendable then?

the recommendations have been pretty much in the way of omni sdc's. Do a search for grand piano in this forum and you will have some pretty good input to go by.

I would be looking at any of the audiotechnica 4000 series mics.

I'm not sure how much €250-350 is in US Dollars but I'm guessing it's around $500 or so. I had a C3000 that ended up being used for a paperweight. It was that bad and it didn't even make a decent paperweight. I ended up selling it for $75.

You may want to check out a matched pair of Avenson sto-2 omni mics for piano. You don't mention how you intend to record or with what and what kind of mic pre's you'll be using so I assume you have that end covered. There's a link below. Good luck. :)

hey thx for the elaborate info!
the avenson sto-2 omni mics do seem interesting, i hope i'll be able to try them out at the store here...cause they're not that interested in helping and more so in earning...

i wanted to connect the mics with an external usb soundcard and control surface with faders and yeah, i know i'm new to this stuff, but i heard about the Behringer BCA 2000 and heard that it could do the job...no?
