Guys and Gals!

I got an amazing deal for a MINT AKAI S2800 Sampler with 16 MB of RAM, SCSI interface and SMPTE interface too! So I don't have to keep loading the OS via floppy all the time, I also purchased a crummy little 40 MB Hard Drive. Now I want to hook up a CD-ROM so I can download samples directly to the S2800, but I can't get any straight answers from AKAI. Can I hook up an external CD-ROM? If so, can it be Mac based? PLEASE HELP!!!!

This may or may not be the case with the S2800, but I have found that most samplers need a SCSI CD drive to read CD's directly into RAM.

This will need to be set up separately from your Mac, and a computer garage sale is where you'd most likely find a SCSI CD drive. And I may be wrong, but I think that Akai is old enough to need Akai-specific samples --- in other words, no .wav files...
