Akai DPS16 and S/PDIF ?

I got an Akai DPS16 and record drum loops out of my computer into the akai. I just went with a new soundcard in the computer that has the S/PDIF connections. It seems the signal is too hot going in the akai. I turn down the computer's volume and it doesnt seem to affect it. I was wondering if anyone uses this type of set-up and if there is a trim or something to turn down the levels inside the akai? Thanks.

what soundcard?....

usually you go into the software mixer for the card and bring down the S/PDIF out fader......
 
Thanks for the reply. Im using an M-Audio Dio2448 card. I opened the mixer on it and did not find an S/PDIF mixer. If its there Im missing it.
