I just got my dads old reel to reel. It still works. Playing the Doors right now.

What do you guys think of this model as a Master or 2-4 track of live music?

Defintely worth a try as a master to mix down to. I don't know anything about old Akais, but get a good tape and try it. You only have the tape money to lose.

I saw your post on the other forum.

A Quadrophonic deck like that, paired with a 4-buss mixer, will be able to capture live sound to 4-tracks, which is cool, but it won't do actual sync overdubbing. I'm pretty sure you knew that, up front.

Anyway, great score, especially if it came with many tapes in true quad format. Way cool.

I got a tape with the Doors, jethro Tull(? spelling), and Sabbath. I gotta bust out some of his quadrophonic records. With the receiver I can hear them now.

I am so excited , I can't wait to get my blank tape in the mail.
