Air Purifiers

My live room has no air inlets or outlets so it tends to develop the dreaded burlap and rockwool stank.

I'd heard people talk about running Ionic Breeze (or similar) air purifiers to get stank out so I got a small Honeywell unit ($55 at Sam's club) and tried it out. It has a Hepa filter and ionizer.

It was useless.

Any recommendations out there? I did some research on line and it looks like even the most basic units start at around $200, with the top of the line running $700 or more.

My room is 15' x 21'.

It must get hot in there with no air inlets/outlets.

Get one of the good ones. The kind you see on TV. My friend has one in his living room, and he smokes cigarettes/pot in there all day and after about an hour or so the room smells fresh, no odor at all. I think it was one of the ones that are over $200. Probably closer to $300. His living room is probably a bit bigger than your live room.

Although I think what would help even more is finding some way to let the stale air out, and fresh air in.

Spritz the burlap (and other offensive areas, carpet or whatever) with Febreze, open the door, and turn a fan on for a little while. My live room is pretty much a closed area (I do have a window AC on one end) so I have to "air out" the room to get rid of unpleasant odors pretty often. A couple of open boxes of baking soda (set where you don't have to worry about them getting knocked over and spilled) will absorb a lot of odors, they work for about a month then need to be replaced.

Dear Phyl I have the same problem and I went to Lowe's today and found a cooler called "Penguin" or Little Penguin, for $475. I didn't buy it yet but I'm thinking to get one. I have another similar but a little bit bigger (and more expensive) in my living room and works very good. You will need to connect a small duct from the unit to a window, or make a hole in the wall in order to let the hot air to exhaust; it takes the humidity off too.
