AHH I'm a noob!!!

I feel like a total noob!!! I've just downloaded reaper and can't get the damn thing to play anything. I've fucked around with it for about half an hour and i know it's something so simple, i just can't work it out. I've recorded quite a lot with other programs and can't work this!!! AHHH!!! It opens(with brad sucks tune), it just doesn't play or record when i ask it to.

What have i done wrong, or what ain't i doing that i should?



I can't believe i just asked such a noob question. I'm so ashamed and embarrassed :o
 
click on the reaper chatroom, but probably you need to choose your audio device in options\preferences\audio\device

I've done that. There must be something simple. I feel like i've had this problem before...

I was hoping to get an answer here, to save me from making a fool or myself in the reaper forum :p.
 
This is the exact problem. I click play and it says [playing] but stays at 1.1.00 / 0:00.000 and nothing happens... I've chosen the correct audio devices
 
Whew!!! I don't feel like such an absolute dummy any more. I had the same problem with Reaper, I even tried it on 3 different PCs and could never get it to work on any of them. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling and never could get it to work. Maybe it just proves the old saying, "You get what you pay for."

Pandamonk, again, not the forum, just click on my sig to enter the reaper chatroom, its realtime help, theyll get you up and running right away

I clicked it last night n went in, but it was late(here in the UK) and i was tired. I'll do it soon, busy just now though.
 
I'm getting some pretty fucked up bad rep: "Your Mother is no noob! Fuck her last night in her hairy, smelly ****!" Now that's just nasty? What have i ever done to deserve it? I don't even hang about the cave! :(

Ahh, it's good to know someone else struggled with it too. I'm usually pretty good with new software, getting to know it really quick, but I'm lost with this :(. I'll ask at the chatroom thing soon...
 
I don't know if this is your problem, but I would get this when I used an onboard sound card to test stuff and had the wrong drivers selected. I suspect that I had no valid WDM driver for ASIO4ALL ro wrap or something. Anyway, checking the diver details were correct fixed it.

That was easy. Just needed asio drivers. Got asio4all recommended at that reaper chatroom. :D
