would a cheap, high wattage, solid state amp be damaged itself by running abass through it into a bass cab? ie bass>something like one of those cheap crates>bass cab

i have a laney kickin around here.....i know the first thing people say is that you'll blow the speakers....but can the actually amp be damaged by the low frequencies?

I doubt that it would hurt the amp, though you might not get the freq response out of it that you'd like.

I once helped a guy out on a mixing job (becuase he was clueless)

I ended up completely removing the bass from the FOH speakers cos it was so damn loud

On quizzing the guy (bassist with Glasgow blues band "Big George & the Business") I discovered he was using a 65watt peavey bandit thru 2, 2x12 H+H cabs

holy fuck thought I.................

so in answer to your original question, NO

thanks....im gonna see if my friend will let me try this out with his cab sometime.....
