Dan, that's just REAL nice. What can I say.

Mike, you could say " that's just REAL nice". he he he he he

Do you ever feel like you try to play too many instruments? And you get to where you can do a little on a bunch of'em. Then you you just put it away and go back to your main ax. I guess it keeps you from getting to bored, eh?

I'm constantly fighting the urge to put stuff in because I have open tracks/instruments I haven't used lately.

why fight it? My late mums used to tell me " if it feels good do it, but if you fuck up, you got to pay". he he he he

That's the fun of this damn recording shit, especially doing it as a hobby like I do. I get a nice track or two with acoustic and bass, and then I'll go thru and add all kinds of shit. If something catches my ear I'll mix it down to save. If it sounds like shit, I'll just go over it. By the way, what do you record with? We might have already had this disscusion. I'm reseaching digital MT and need some thoughts.

Traditionally it's been a couple of 20 bit ADATs into a computer for editing. I just picked up a Alesis HD24 and I'm STILL in the middle of trying to get it installed in the rack (while trying to work on ongoing projects that were tracked on the ADATs).

bitch, a HD24, damn boy, you rock.

check out my post in the newb forum, if you got any thoughts on digital MTs. I think I could spent a few bucks and maybe get a little digital recorder for my use. It's something I've been wanting to do for a while.

I really like what you're doing with this tune. Very cool.

Check your e-mail. :D

Really nice tune. Very nice background going on thruout the whole song. I like the banjo playin also.

Btw, what's that windish instrument? is it some flute??

kartikbala,

the flute sound is a synth on the keyboard being played by a friend of mine who comes around from time to time. The singer is another friend who sang and wrote these lyrics to my acoustic guitar music all in the same night. cool.

thanks,

That was very cool!!

Banjo fit in very nicely, and smooth playing throughout.

Vocals maybe a tad too loud, that's got to be a first on this site.

Great tune, great work!!

thanks GT,
yeah, I have a hard time with my boy Jim. He likes the mic. He wants to eat the damn thing and then he hears something and backs off sometimes. He's a newb. But man can he lay down lyrics. He's a poet. Listen to the one I just put up. Better on the vocal. He's learning.

damn, mister....slavery ended with the civil war!!:D

seriously, nice banjo....

I posted in your other thread, but I feel those comments would fit equally well in this thread too.

damn, mister....slavery ended with the civil war!!

Huh????

Disclaimer: Ok, the point of this post is not to promote or display racism in this forum. I, a poor sharecropper in Georgia, probably can't finish this disclaimer without a misspelling of some sort. It's called irony, which either means saying one thing while meaning another, or having an insight that the protagonist/antagonist isn't aware of. In this case, my reply: "Huh???" was a response to the above quote. What was meant by this was actually somewhat self-deprecating humor, being that I live in a state/region (GA) (much like VA, south of the Mason-Dixon line, and former member of the Confederate States) where for many, the Civil War has never ended, nor the Civil Rights Movement ever took place. My response was actually meant as an insult to those who hold those particular beliefs. Irony, indeed.

No Llamas were harmed in the creation of this disclaimer.

yeah, that Jim is a young whippersnapper. He don't know shit about mics, recording, or stuff like that. He sure can write lyrics though, IMO. He always wants me to put a lot reverb in his cans. I keep telling him I'd rather put a weewee up his ass. He don't get it. Seriously, he is the head golf pro at my job. The mother can play that game. A -2 handicap. Bitch. Loves that singing stuff and lives for our little Monday nite jams.

Nice

Beautiful sad song. Ought to be used in a war movie some day. Wife says it's pretty good. She doesn't usually say that.

I noticed a pop at 4:14, but I'm not sure if it was a streaming issue or not.

Nice selection of instruments. They worked well together on this song.

I think proper use of harmonies would add to this song greatly. Think about bringing up the bass a bit. I would prefer a bit more from it (caveat - I'm listening on cheap PC speakers, which could be the culprit).

3M,
not you again! he he he he

This was, and is, one of my little instrumental ditties I did last year. I have a bunch of different version with different things going on. Then in the fall when the "Bob and Jim" show started coming around, you know, drinking, eating, playing, recording, I was just kinda showing it to Bob as to him maybe trying a little keyboard on it and freaking Jim just starts singging off the cuff, and before the evening was over we had the basic song in the can. I overdubbed the bass with my little drum machine. The banjo was kinda a trial think later and I thought it was worth saving. Man, that Jim can lay down lyrics. He needs a lot more experience using mics and presence and stuff like that, but he absolutelly has a ball doing it. Did I mention that I have a ball also?
he he he he he he

thanks for listening dude,
