So now that I've got my session mixed down. How do I get the "session mixdown" recorded to CD. Can I burn it to CD on my PC or do I need to get some external CD recording unit.

if you have a burner in your pc, you should be able to burn a disc from there. You will want your mixdown wav file at 16 bit/44.1 khz stereo to burn an audio cd.

Thanks Gtrman! You're the man. I'm learning still!! Cool Edit and some other gear I have is clearly all I need. One must learn to fully utilize all that available. I'm at work and while I'm NOT able to play with my home recording gear I'm always thinking of the next step. I've been mp3'ing everything up til now. I just finished looking at some equipment with built in CD burners and started salivating...when I thought to myself - wait a minute! I should be able to do that already. Thanks playa, you just woke me up! One more question - about synths. If I have synth software, I dont need the hardware either right? Or would it still be cool to have simply as a control surface?

I know jack about synths, never use them myself. Hopefully someone will come along that can help you in that area.
What version of Cool Edit do you have? I started with 1.2, then skipped all the way to Adobe Audition 1.5. AA has a great cd burning facility built right in for burning audio cd's. If not, you can use Nero or whatever to burn audio.
Keep your burn speed slow, 4x is fine. Burning audio at 52x will usually make a skippy-poppy POS cd.

After you mix down your files, open up each song and hit F11 to open the dialog box to convert to 44.1K and 16 bit. This conversion is necessary if you have recorded at any other rate or bit depth. Then save the converted song file and it's ready to burn to CD.

Actually, in AA 1.5, if you don't want to convert them right then, you don't have to. You can import them to the cd project view and it will generate a temporary copy, convert it and burn it.

I always burn with Nero, I heard bad things about Adobe's burner... Nothing I've seen proof of though.

Taking the slow road
and then get a freeware mp3 converter software or if you have one in your software, convert to mp3 (128) and upload to Nowhereradio - associated w/ this site - and then tell us about it in the mixing clinic thread.
