This is a project I've been working on for a looooooong time. It represents the first serious attempt I've made at recording, and given my situation I think it's come out alright.

So, with no treated rooms, a decent (Roland 2480) recorder, ultra budget mics and pre-amps (Studio Projects C1 is the "luxury" mic in my locker), and a great band, I set out to record an album. Turns out we all shot too high and are settling for an EP for now, but damn if I didn't learn alot in the process. :)

Anyway, here's two 1.5 minute clips from the EP at 90% mix compleation and unmastered. Recording quality aside, I really like these songs and hope you guys get some enjoyment out of them. I only hope I did it well enough to get some local airplay on small radio stations once mastering is done... I still have a week to tweek stuff, but this is generally it.

For comparison's sake, you can hear the earlier "demo" versions I made of these same songs over in the music section at www.omnisoul.com. The demos are recorded much louder since I knew they would never be mastered, and the lead guitar player in the band changed.

If this is your first attempt, let me get up..(applause goes here...........)
Outstanding work.. I listened to the clip you had posted cause Im 56k and gotta get some sleep :). The only thing i`d do to this is maybe open the eq up on the vocals on the top end and let that stuff that you can`t really hear much but is there thru, and turn it up a tad. Bass drum could use a touch of high mid.. really nice work

Thanks. :) No, I'm not a newbie.... I've done quickie "demo" level and live multitrack stuff for about 2 years and electronic midi only stuff for about 2 years prior to that (with Cakewalk and built in soundcards). This is just my first attempt at really throwing everything I've got at a project. Kinda' like its the first time the recording was not "just for fun".

...And this project has also been going on for about 6 or 7 months. We started with about 14 songs. Songs got recorded and re-recorded. "You Say" went through 3 compleat re-recordings. Like I said above, I learned alot doing this project. Some of the stuff at the beginning was pretty bad. :)
