We use a Spirit Folio SX for live performances. Our music is close to world music with no electronic instruments. All instruments( percussion and 2 small accoustic organs) are amplified with mic's.
In one particular venue the accoustic environment is terrible.
We check the levels with PFL in order to get the best input on each channel.
I regularly check the balance between the singers. I do this listening to the live sound or through our headphones. What I hear then of course is the whole band playing.
In that venue both methods are not satisfying. I would like to check the levels after fader of the channels I want, to make balance adjustments there where necessary.
With PFL you can pick the channels you want and monitor them through the headphones. Is it possible to get a similar result but with AFL.
How to do this with the Folio SX?

PS: Our Folio SX proved to be a reliable and high quality console that we love to use!

All tips and suggestions are highly appreciated!

I hate to see your question get ignored but the answers you seek should be in your manual. Sometimes you can decide if SOLO is PFL or AFL but I don't know how they do it on the Spirit.

Usually the busses are used to create alternate AFL mixes and the PFL solo is used as a troubleshooting tool. If you want to isolate some tracks on a main buss mix you can just mute the channels you don't want to hear. You could set up a vocals only mix on another buss if you have one available.

I understand you need this for live mix checking and I'm guessing you are performing while this is needed. Checking the mix AFL in the headphones would be pretty pointless because this would tell you next to nothing about how the vocal mix is translating out in the room on the PA.

Thank you TexRoadkill for your reply.
I checked the manual again, but the Spirit has only PFL. Soundcraft has consoles with "SOLO IN PLACE" the equivalent of PFL.

The Spirit has a MIX/SUBswitch allowing the signal to be routed to either the main MIX or SUB mix.
We use this section already for something else.

This doesn't leave me with a lot of choice...

As a newbie in this matter I was hoping that the vocals could be rerouted through the AUX or something and be picked up again after that signal path to get a kind of AFL.

Can this be done?

You could run them out of Post Fader Aux's if you have them available and get some idea of the mix. Compact mixers like that have to make some compromises on features for the sake of size as you are finding out.

You have a point there TexRoadkill!
I bumping against the limitations of this mixer.
Anyway, I'll try out your suggestion.

Thanks for your time!
