im looking into tom mics, and my setup so far looks like this. a akg d112 on the kick, oktava mc-012's up above in xy, and most likely a 57 on the snare. these are gonna be rock drums so they not to be up and present in the mix, especially since last time the toms were almost gone.. so im looking for tom mics...

i heard the e604's were good on the mid and high and the e609 was good on the floor....if i went this way i might use the 609 on guitars too,by the way, how is it on guitars???

next the adx-90 someone just mentioned it in a thread and it was cheap, how does this do for toms? is it good on the mid and high but not too good on the floor?

and last the c418, his is a little pricey but maybe if i get a good deal?

how would you rate these mics and how they sound???what tyype of sound do they each have? thanks alot

e609 silver is great on guitars... run them around all your toms, really... and put a 604 on your snare and throw the 57 in the trash :)

i think it sounds great compared to a 57 on a guitar cab. i've been meaning to try it on toms.. but havent yet.

The c418's don't really catch the tone of the toms. They catch more of the attack. So they wont ring too long or anything, which can be convenient..

Yea. I just used 57's on the toms on the recording I just did. They worked for me.

I've tried the 609 in toms and they do sound great. I also did try once 504/604 on snare, but didn't like it much though.

grooves-i heard the 609 was good for the floor tom, and then using the 604s on the high and mid tom. have you done this yet? tell me how it is? thanks man

im thinking they might be big for anything other than the floor, do oyu have pics of them setup?
