Hey,

please share your knowledge.

I am looking for active speakers in the price range of 500 euros, give or take a 100.
I am a DJ, not a producer, and their main purpose will be for home listening in the range
of 0.6 meters when im behind my pc, or 3 meters when im not. I find low freqs very important, but I dont want a subwoofer.
I would like to be able to hear as good as possible what a track will sound like on a really loud system.
Also I wouldnt mind if the speakers have atmospheric flavour.

Would you still recommend flat monitors?
Would you feel stepping up from 400 to 600 euros will help a lot?

Any general or very specific advice is welcome!

Some music I listen to:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tUhbRaI2dCI#t=01m22s

so as you can hear, I like atmospheric music with clean sub bass lines.

Thanks!

The KRK RP6s might work for you. My friend has them, and whenever I'm hanging out at his place and he puts on some music (they're his only "outboard" speakers, the other ones he has are in his laptop), they feel like listening speakers - in comparison, whenever I play something on my Yamaha HS50ms, I immediately go into analysis mode, as if somebody whipped out a musical magnifying glass. The KRKs don't have that effect on me at all.

Yeah I was leaning towards the Rokits for now. Is it inadvisable to get the RP6 in stead of RP5 considering how close I am to them?
