I'm thinking of buying a Soundracs Solitair 32...I know someone here has one...But this is for everyone realy...How are these descs....It seems as it has everthing I would and could want, no phase flip though, but hey.....
Basicly I want to know how they sound...How the internal dynamics sound....Well, basicly the ins and outs of a ducks arse.....
Also if anyones got some pics of the top and the rear could they please post them....Any info would be deadly, cheers!...

i have a soundtracs board and i like it.

just dont pay a lot for it and you will be happy... they are very decent boards, with some good features. usually better than what you can get at the price point. but dont expect miracles!

Hmmm....thanks eeldip.....What soundtracs board do you have?....
Anyone else too? Thoughts?

Ah, Downside Studio...You're got one....Please tell me all that you think of it....

Yep, I've got the 40ch with vca and patchbay...it's great...adnd it does have a phase shift switch...it's located rigth above the fader itself.

Dynamics are great...automation is rock solid but do not use a pc for it...it sucks..just run it on the internal system...works like a charme...mtc into console and off you go!

Sound is awesome (this is a big $$ desk so it should be), just make sure the powersupply is allright...I had trouble with mine and after testing 2 others I decided to let a comapny build a complete new one. make sure you measure the s/n ratio with the standard power supply.

i have an FMX, in a configuration for a video editing facility. an 8X4X2. it has tons of features (even a little built in talkback mic, a phono input, phase on every channel, etc.).

the mic pres on it are pretty good. softer sounding than a mackie, but not exactly very hi fi. still they totally work... the eq is OK. little bit grainy, but usable (unlike a mackie). it has 4 sends and 8 returns... and 4 groups, so i got plenty of room to send shit all over the place.

anyway, for my studio it blows away the mackie 1202 which it replaced. and it cost me the same $$$...

whoa! just went and found out what a solitare desk is ...

ok ... whole nother league that what i am in...
never mind me comments. totally different product....

:D

well at least you have a happy bank account...

mine's gone

Cool....All good stuff, thanks guys....

Eeldip...Sounds like you still miss the mackie in some way lol...

Downside....Couple of ?;s, hope you don't mind....MTC? S/N ratio? And how's the physical connections.....See, I was origionaly after a Tascam M600, but all the multipin connectors for the, well, connections scared me alittle.....Cheers...

LOL @ downside....Yeah, my bank ballance will be pretty much the same if I go for it :) .....
Also, where would I find a manual for this beast???

it used to be on the sountracs site, but the've skipped the analogue console....i'll do a search on my computer...I'd use to have the brochure in pdf format.....

feel free to ask questions though

Cool, thanks for the link (man some people are just plain goodpeoples on this forum)....Good overview, but couldn't find any real meat there.....Here's what I wrote before just in case you missed it...

Damn, you caught me just before falling drunk into my bed..anyway..some of the questions answered..

Soundtracs made a little mistake with this desk by adding a little digital powersupply. It just simply is to little for the desk (anyway the version I'm using)
Some of the internal components went bad resulting in a bad signal to noise ratio (plain said: the desk became noisy)....somebody developed a new analogue supply for me (even soundtracs itself was interested in the design) and I'm a happy camper again.

MTC= midi time code....the automation (vca for fader and mute-automation) runs on the internal computer, and can be displayed on a real fancy 386 pc (!)...my advice...don;t use the pc..just use the onboard displays of the console...it is rock solid...

I've got the patchbay version so the only channel connections I've got are xlr inputs on the channels. All the other connections (per channel that is: line in, tape send/return, group output, insert send/return and mon in) are on multipin connectors (edac)

If this is the first time you will be using a console with patchbay...well..it can be quite confusing....but once you get used to it...patchbays rule.....

the manual has a decent layout for the multipin connections...

this is how the desk looks ripped apart....cleaning the inside and checking connections....

I had a Sountracs MRX 24/16/8/2 and it really sounded warm and clean...

Just my 2 cents tho...

Any two cents is good cents....
Ok, found out that the confugureation is 32 into 8, would've loved 16, but 8's cool....It's not the ptchbay version, but that doesn't worry me either as I wanted to patch everything through a balanced bay with jacks on front and back 'cause what with less than perfect sight, solderings a bitch at the best of times for me....gonna see it today so if anyone else has got any info or thoughts PLEASE let me know asap....Cheers!!!

32 into 8 ? as far as i know all the solitaires are 24 buss.

And the internal patchbay ain't the same as connecting the inputs to a external patchbay..the internal patchbay means 7 connections per channel (not even counting the xlr in)

mon in
line in
send
return
group output
tape send
tape return
