I'm interested in locating some folks who have started their own rehearsal studio/music learning center businesses. I basically want to have one excellent (equipment furnished plug and play) rehearsal studio for rent, along with separate private rooms for music instruction.

The retail area will be limited to just music books, and small guitar accessories (pedals, straps, that sort of thing).

Please feel free to comment on this board or to contact me at cmancuso@bellsouth.net

Email me, and I will put you in touch with my son, who is rounding the corner, business-wise, on his rehersal studio business now, after about eight months. Include your phone number and what city you are in.

Rehearsal/Recording Studio Start-up

The reason I'm resurrecting this 2-year old thread is that I'm thinking of starting a studio in my area. Does anyone knows of a good way of determining if there's sufficient demand in a geographic area to sustain the business? I know I need to do "market research" perhaps by doing a survey, but how do I find my survey subjects? Any ideas? I know a few musicians in the area - but just those few wouldn't be able to sustain the business. How can I find out how many more are nearby and whether they would use a rehearsal studio?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
David

I recall you PM'd or emailed (EDIT) me, and I gave you my son's number- did you ever talk to him?

my band used to practice there. it was awesome, 6 or 7 treated rooms, a iso booth/control room, pay by the hour. it was just too out of the way for us, plus we found a basement which was free. :) but they may have some ideas if you asked them.
