Advice on mics

Hey guys, I need some advice. I'm at the "buy your mics now" point in putting together my small studio at home.

I saw an online retailer having a sale on Audio Technica mics for the next week, and was wondering what everyone thought about their 30 series vs. their 40 series.

I'll needs mics from acoustic guitar (stereo pair), electric guitar (on am small amp), 6 pc Pearl Masters MMX kit (with close micing, and 2 overheads, possibly another 2 for hi hats, and ride), bass cabinet, possibly an acoustic piano down the road.

My total budget for mics (not including a dedicated vocal mic), is about $1500

Any suggestions? I'm open to anything as I'm just starting my research.

Rest of my gear: Mackie 24x8 (using built in pre-amps for now), Delta 1010, monitors to be named later (probably my next request for help), and PC recording with Cool Edit Pro.

ive been using the oktava mk012 for acoustic gtr and drums with real good results, but those the only sd's that i have tried so i have nothing to compare =S
maybe those, a couple of 57's o md421 for drums/elecguitar, d112/beta52 for kick
and for vocals/piano maybe a couple of LD's

but thats just me...(Y)
