Probably better asked in the computer recording section....

My short answer is that I cringe every time I see someone considering a USB audio interface. I've seen enough people screaming about problems with them that I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy.

Just my $0.02.

Nobody can really answer your question without more information from you. What do you intend to use it for (how many tracks at a time, mostly audio or MIDI, etc.)? Are you going to use it with a desktop computer or laptop? Windows or OSX? Without giving us more to go on it's impossible to give good advice.

I recently added the MOTU 828 MkII and its great.

It has an interface on the PC that lets you program your routes and levels remotely , you can also do this on the front panel and its very easy to get to grips with. Very classy case and it's rack mountable. Has digital ins and outs and midi. Connects using firewire.

Another one to look at is the presonus firepod , it was about $50 less than the MOTU but the presonus has more preamps and most of the inputs are on the front which put me off because I dont want my rack with tons of cables hanging out of the front. The MOTU has most inputs at the rear but only has 2 preamps as opposed to 8 preamps on the firepod. Firepod also ships with cubase (i think). I use sonar so this was of little benefit to me.

If you use alot of mics the firepod may be a better choice for you. I only record keyboards so I didnt need all the pre's.

Ok, I Just need, an easy to install (since I'm not a computer technician) interface with two channels,1 for my guitar and 1 for mic for vocal since the backing tracks (drums, bass, synth) I make with FLstudio. I should've mentioned I'm a newbie and a hobbyist, so, low budget. It is for home, PC, I have an emachine with intel celeron 2.8 Ghz, windows xp, upgraded to 1gb memory. so I just want to record myself having fun with the guitar, arrange a few songs I wrote, with good quality, to show off between my friends. Maybe in the future I can upgrade(hope so). By the way since I read about going firewire I checked a few out:
