Anyone here know about CRATE?
I tend to believe that everyone has their own brands that they are happy with (ie: Yamaha, Peavy, Fender) Is there anything anyone here can tell me about CRATE specifically such as pros and cons from an unbiased viewpoint? Anyone here ever owned any CRATE stuff that you were particularly happy / upset with?

thanks for any input.

Do a Crate search in the guitar & bass area - there's be mention of the brand a few times.

The Crate Palomino amps are un-frickin-believeable. But everything else I have used by crate pretty much sucks.

What product are you looking into?

I've got a Crate Vintage Club 50 tube amp, and I really like it. Its no Triple Rectumfrier or a Twin, but it does very well. Especially for the $300 that I paid for it. I like it. :D

In the Works

For Guitar:
Crate GT1200 Fullstack
For Vocals:
Crate PA6FX w/ Crate PE15 Speakers

Know anything about them there 'battle?
Thanks to all who contributed!

I never heard a solid state Crate guitar amp that I liked, and I've had a few.. But they make these Blue Voodoo tube heads that sound awesome. I played a gig where they had BV300HB 1/2 stacks in the backline, I thought it sounded better than my marshall 1/2 stack. $1800 just for the head, so it better! But I give their SS combos and heads 2 thumbs down.

I also have a Crate SPA-200 poweramp running some stage monitors, I've had that amp for years and it's always been loud and reliable. I like it.

I've played around with lots of Crate gear, and I found it hard to venture away from the metal sound. Blue Voodos are damn good heads, but if you're looking for versatility I would recommend another company. Fender, Peavey, and Marshall make some unbelievable amps, and Gibson and Fenders are my choice for guitars.
